Monoglass product basics: what to ask before specifying
Start with the job the insulation must do, then choose a system with evidence that fits the project.
What is Monoglass?
The manufacturer describes Monoglass Spray-On as glass fibres combined with a polymer adhesive, applied by trained applicators. It is presented as both thermal and acoustic insulation. That distinguishes the product description from a generic request for “spray foam.” Source: official Monoglass product overview.
Use the exact product name when discussing a proposal. Ask the contractor what they intend to install and which current product sheet accompanies it. A familiar brand name alone does not explain the complete scope or establish suitability for every surface.
Match the conversation to your goal
Comfort or thermal scope
Describe the rooms or assemblies involved, existing conditions and any project drawings. Ask who establishes the required thermal performance and how the proposal will demonstrate that it is met.
Acoustic scope
Explain whether the concern is a noisy room, difficult conversation or sound travelling between spaces. These are different project questions. Record the intended outcome before comparing product figures.
Exposed appearance
Say whether the insulation remains visible and how the space is used. Ask for a finish sample or agreed reference rather than assuming every spray-applied surface looks the same.
Where does Sonoglass fit?
The manufacturer positions Sonoglass as a spray-applied fibreglass acoustic treatment with a more uniform finished appearance than its standard Monoglass insulation. Treat it as a distinct product to discuss, not another spelling of Monoglass. Source: official Sonoglass product page.
Ask for the supporting documents
A useful proposal identifies the system, affected areas, assumptions, preparation and any conditions that need review. Ask for the product data sheet and the project-specific basis for the recommended approach. If a drawing or specification names another material, have the design team review the proposed change rather than silently substituting it.
Keep thermal, acoustic and fire-related requirements as separate questions. This guide does not assign a building assembly rating or approve an installation. The project professional should identify the relevant evidence and confirm how it applies to your building.
