Reviewing changes to a Monoglass specification

A change to a ceiling finish can affect more than appearance. Keep proposed substitutions and scope changes visible so the project team can review their consequences before work proceeds.

Describe the proposed change precisely

Record the original requirement and the requested alternative side by side. Include the reason for the change, affected areas and proposed timing. Avoid broad phrases such as equivalent insulation when the product, finish, thickness or assembly is actually different.

Ask the right people to review it

Have the designer identify which thermal, acoustic, fire-related or appearance requirements may be affected. Obtain current manufacturer information for the proposal and any assembly-specific evidence needed. A contractor’s availability or price does not by itself establish that a substitution meets the design.

Update the construction record

Once a change is accepted, update the drawings, scope, sample record and handover documents that reference it. Tell affected trades before the revised work begins. Keep rejected proposals separate so they cannot be mistaken for the final instruction.
